Located on the coast of the East China Sea, Xiangshan is known as Penglai Immortal Island, Fountain Island and Fairy Land. On the 925-kilometer-long coastline of Xiangshan, natural wonders and humanistic scenes are intertwined, and modern life and ancient traditions grow together.
The Shanshui Dam is located in Tucizhen, near Fantong Mountain Water Gate. It overlooks the Chaotic Reef Ocean, known for its hidden reefs and islands. Wen Tianxiang wrote the poem "Passing the Chaotic Reef Ocean" here during the Southern Song Dynasty.
The site has various small structures but lacks a cohesive look. There’s room for improving the landscape, including the parking area. The water gate should become a landmark with a new facade that reflects the nearby mountains.
The facade renovation of the water gate and substation aims to address two key aspects: meeting traditional traffic and water management needs, and enhancing public engagement by designing them as iconic local landmarks.
